Raptor Integration provides custom scanning software, sensor technologies, and control system solutions in the sawmilling industry.

The Control Systems Group is responsible for the control of the movement of wood through a sawmill, including conveyors, saws, and hydraulic positioning actuators.

Responsibilities

  • Control system design
  • Industrial electrical design
  • Hardware specifications
  • PLC programming
  • HMI design and programming
  • Troubleshooting of electrical, PLC, and HMI
  • Support project proposals and project estimation
  • Preparing functional specifications
  • Site commissioning and installation
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Project Manager
  • On-call service/support for existing customers

Qualifications

  • Very strong relatable experience in PLC & HMI programming with Allen Bradley PLCs.
  • You have an Electrical Engineering or related Degree, Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have 5+ years of experience working with industrial automation
  • Experience working with motion control, VFDs, High speed PLC applications
  • Advanced knowledge of Rockwell Automation’s, AB family of programmable control systems
  • Aptitude for Programming (Ladder Logic, VBA, C#, C, SQL, and other languages)
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar programs, drafting of electrical control system drawings
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Highly motivated team player and leader
  • Ability to handle pressure and enjoys new challenges
  • Wants to live in a small town, enjoys outdoor activities
  • Must be able to travel across border legally and entitled to work in Canada 
  • Must have a reliable vehicle & valid driver’s license
  • Desire to take on Project Management or Team Lead role in the future
  • Willing to travel up to 20%

*NOTE: Sawmill Control Systems are extremely complicated and difficult to learn. There are many simultaneously moving parts at high speeds. You take inputs from the optimizer and adjust wood positioning and saw positions accordingly. There are 6-15 hydraulic actuator positioning pins and up to 12 different saws that need to move in the correct position to align and cut the wood. This requires a deep level of understanding and experience in multi-axis motion control. It is one of the most difficult PLC applications.

Additional Information
